Cycling apparel care starts with a few good habits after each ride.

Below, you’ll find guidance for washing, drying and storing your Morra garments, with bottle care included as part of the same post-ride routine.

For product-specific instructions, always refer to the care label attached to the garment.

Product-specific care label

FIRST USE.

Even though each Morra garment is made with care, we recommend washing all cycling apparel before first use. Before it reaches you, it has been cut, sewn, finished and packed, and a first wash helps prepare it for close contact with the skin.

BEFORE WASHING:

Empty all pockets
Close all zips
Secure any hook-and-loop fastenings
Turn each garment inside out
Use a laundry bag whenever possible

These simple steps help reduce abrasion and protect both the fabric surface and functional details during washing.

If apparel cannot be washed straight after a ride, allow it to air in a well-ventilated space until it can be washed. Keeping garments dry and ventilated is preferable to leaving them damp in a bag or soaking in water, as moisture may affect fabrics and elasticated details over time.

Regular washing helps maintain freshness, comfort and hygiene. We recommend washing cycling apparel after every ride whenever possible.

Wash at 30 °C unless otherwise stated on the care label. Use a gentle or sportswear programme and choose a spin speed of no more than 800 rpm to help reduce unnecessary wear.

For lightly used outer layers such as vests or wind jackets, washing after every ride may not always be necessary. If the garment is not dirty or heavily exposed to sweat, allowing it to air properly may be enough. When washing is needed, choose the shortest effective cycle to help reduce water and energy use.

Worth checking before your next ride

Small details can make a real difference over time. These points help your Morra garments keep their fit, hold their shape and perform as they should ride after ride.

Bib shorts need specific care because they are designed to be worn directly against the skin, without underwear. The pad sits close to the body throughout the ride, so regular washing is important for hygiene, comfort and lasting quality.

We recommend washing bib shorts after every ride whenever possible. Turn them inside out before washing and use a laundry bag to help protect the straps, reduce tangling and limit unnecessary friction.

Use only the recommended amount of detergent, as the pad can hold residue more easily than lighter fabrics. Careful dosing and thorough rinsing help keep bib shorts clean, comfortable and in good condition.

Use a liquid detergent or washing gel designed for sportswear or technical fabrics. Liquid detergents are less likely to leave residue on the fabric and are a good choice for cycling apparel.

Because cycling garments are worn close to the skin, detergent choice matters for both the fabric and the rider. Where possible, choose a mild detergent that rinses out well. For sensitive skin, a fragrance-free option can be a better choice than a heavily scented detergent.

Avoid:

  • Fabric softener
  • Bleach
  • Excess detergent

Fabric softener and bleach may affect breathability, elasticity and the overall condition of the garment over time. Using more detergent will not make apparel cleaner, but it may leave residue in the fabric and reduce comfort during use.

This is especially important for bib shorts, where the pad can absorb excess detergent. In wet conditions, detergent residue may become noticeable and can cause foaming around the pad.

Always dose detergent according to the manufacturer’s instructions and rinse thoroughly. Where possible, choose an environmentally responsible washing gel or detergent.

Air drying is the preferred way to dry Morra cycling apparel. After washing, allow garments to dry naturally in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.

Avoid:

  • Tumble drying
  • Ironing
  • Drying near direct heat sources

Heat can affect fabrics, colours, elasticated components and silicone grippers over time. This is especially important for garments with gripper details, such as bib shorts and socks.

For bib shorts, drying with the pad facing outwards helps air circulate more freely. If hanging bib shorts by the straps, use both straps rather than one to avoid placing unnecessary strain on a single strap.

Before storing Morra apparel, make sure each garment is completely dry. Moisture left in the fabric can affect freshness and quality over time.

Store garments in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Avoid keeping apparel compressed for long periods, as this may affect its shape, fit and elasticity.

Clean, dry and carefully stored garments keep their shape better over time.

Bottle care matters too

Your bottle is with you on every ride. With the right care, it stays clean, fresh and ready whenever you reach for it.

Rinse your bottle after each use and wash both the bottle and cap regularly with soapy water. This is especially important after using sports drinks, juices or other drinks that may leave residue or odour.

Pay attention to the drinking opening, cap threads and bottle rim, as residue can collect there over time. The bottle can also be washed in the dishwasher at up to 65 °C.

After washing, rinse thoroughly and let the bottle and cap dry completely before closing.

The drinking nozzle can be removed so you can clean the hidden areas properly.

This is worth doing regularly, especially after using sports drink or other drinks that may leave residue. If moisture and residue stay trapped around the nozzle, odour may develop over time and mould can start to form.

After cleaning, rinse the nozzle thoroughly and let it dry completely before placing it back.

On hot days, you can place the bottle in the refrigerator or add ice cubes to keep your drink cold. Do not freeze the bottle.

On colder rides, warm drinks can be used up to 40 °C. Do not use the bottle for hot drinks such as tea, and do not place it in the microwave.

The bottle is designed to be used on the bike, where it sits firmly in the bottle cage throughout the ride. With regular use, light marks may appear on the surface where the bottle and cage meet.

This is a normal part of riding and does not affect the use of the bottle. To reduce unnecessary rubbing, keep both the bottle and bottle cage clean. Dirt, sand or grit between the two surfaces can make wear more visible over time.

Regular cleaning helps the bottle stay in better condition and keeps it looking fresh for longer.

The ride does not end when you step off the bike.

A few simple care habits help your Morra apparel and bottle stay fresh and ready for the next ride.
